For this project I was tasked with completing an Ecovadis assessment, which had not been done before within the organization.
The company had been tasked from one of their high value customers with completing an Ecovadis environmental assessment of the company.
I began this project by receiving notification that the company had been tasked with completing an environmental assessment of its operations. I was initially tasked with researching Ecovadis, the scope of the project and to establish a timeline for the project. I then relayed this information back to senior management.
After this, I was placed in charge of this project. The assessment involved discussions with almost every department including Sales, Supply Chain, Operations, Accounts, Engineering and working with our facilities in other countries. After assembling the data, I then presented this to the assessment company through the form of a questionnaire.
The first year of this assessment was time consuming as both I and those within the company I had spoken to throughout hadn’t performed a similar assessment before and therefore there was a lot of misunderstanding as to the specific requirements.
However, the assessment is now performed annually, and we have improved our response time each year. The company was recently acquired by a MNC from America, and I have now joined their efforts to improve overall sustainability throughout the organisation.
